Dr. Jamie Levin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada, a Resident Fellow at the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Security and Development. Dr. Levin earned his PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto and an MsC from the London School of Economics. His work focuses on peacekeeping and the role of weapons in the resolution of civil wars. Dr. Levin’s research explores how weapons can be a stabilizing force in the resolution of conflict and how peacekeepers contribute to democratization. Previously, Dr. Levin was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His work has been published in both the academic press and popular media, including: Journal of Peace Research, Foreign Policy, International Peacekeeping, International PoliticsInternational Studies Reviewthe Palestine Israel JournalHarper’s Magazinethe Washington Post’s Monkey Cagethe WalrusPolicy Options, Haaretzthe Jerusalem Postthe Toronto Star, and the National Post. Dr. Levin has appeared on CBC Radio to provide commentary on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
